St. Louis Mayor Slay Honors NextGen
On May 19, 2011, NextGen was honored for its accomplishments as diversity owned company in the City of
St. Louis. The Mayor of St. Louis, Francis Slay presided at a special ceremony conducted at the headquarters of NextGen.
The dignitaries attending included Alderwoman Phyllis Young, President of the Board of Aldermen Lewis Reed, and members
of the St. Louis Development Corporation; Howard Hays and Dorothy Jones. Representatives from many of NextGen’s customers
were in attendance as well as other guests.
The Mayor addressed a standing room only crowd and remarked that he wanted to recognize the efforts of Maria del Carmen
Jacob and her partner, Michael Barton in developing a business with influence in St. Louis, Missouri, the United States
and India. Alderwoman Phyllis Young presented Ms. Jacob with an official resolution from the City. A second tribute from
the Mayor was the presentation of a plaque to commemorate NextGen as the first recipient of its “Business Spotlight Award”.
